This project allows children in grades 3 – 5 to learn about personal and family preparedness, local hazards and more by going through a 60 minute “learn, practice and share” presentation led by Red Cross volunteers. After the presentation, students receive a sturdy pillowcase and are encouraged to use it to build their own personal safety kit. Learn more about this project here.
Did you know? Seven times a day, one person in this country dies in a fire. The Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness campaign has joined with fire departments and community groups to install smoke alarms in communities with high numbers of fires, while encouraging individuals to practice their fire escape plan at the same time.
